Jeffrey D. Muntz

Attorney

Jeffrey D. Muntz, an equity partner at Goostree Law Group, developed an interest in becoming an attorney at a young age. After challenging a grade he received on a Spanish test, one of his instructors suggested that his argumentative nature might make him well suited for a career in law. His parents agreed, having already seen those skills firsthand during plenty of debates over bedtime and curfew.

Jeff’s interest in the legal profession was also shaped by witnessing the impact of crime on his community while growing up. He pursued pre-law studies at Saint Ambrose University and earned an internship with the Bureau County State’s Attorney’s Office. After graduating cum laude, Jeff attended Valparaiso University School of Law. His legal education also included study abroad at the University of Cambridge in England.

In 2004, Jeff joined the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office as a prosecutor. During his time there, he handled serious and complex felony matters, including sexual assault and first-degree murder cases. In 2006, he was recognized as an outstanding misdemeanor prosecutor, reflecting the tough but fair approach he brought to his work.

Jeff shifted his focus to domestic relations and family law in 2012, motivated by a desire to help individuals and families navigate difficult legal situations. His practice centers on complex divorce litigation, spousal maintenance, and disputes involving the allocation of parental responsibilities. Drawing on his small-town upbringing and international experience, Jeff is able to connect with clients from a broad range of backgrounds and circumstances.

In addition to his family law practice, Jeff maintains an established criminal defense practice built on his experience as a former prosecutor. He has represented clients facing a wide variety of charges, ranging from traffic offenses to serious felony matters, and has obtained favorable outcomes in numerous cases.

Outside of the office, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife and children and following his favorite sports teams, whether in person or on television.
